Triathlons are my New sport and I LOVE IT

Recent last few years  as I havent done much since I was 16/17yrs, on and off injuries, going out with Friends started. Operations on injuries- compartment syndrome front of the shin had small operation to release the pressure on the fascia.

Oct 2007.  Did the great north run.  ( I was in the elite ladies race, against Kara Goucher and Paula Radcliffe, Im sure u Americans will recall that race).

I was just in on my previous times from the Bath Half Marathon. I ran it as best as I could off my training & circumstances...

Decided to do my 1st Marathon with London looming in the following April I was in the ladies Elite race again.  So the training was on.  I realise now I didnt give my body enough time to recover as it did break down in the last 5 weeks of my training. Injury bound, with calf and hamstring problems I raced!

London Marathon, April 08 (Injury calf issues) 1st marathon  3hrs.12mins .30 secs

Dublin Marathon  Oct 08  3hrs.01mins.13  undulating and 1 toilet stuck/stop (LOL)

Bath Half 2007    1.26.35 hrs

Wilmslow half marathon english champs    1.25.39

18th lady  (With piriformis injury ).

Liverpool 10k 2008 Oct 37.42mins midst marathon training

Wirral 5k 2009 17.41mins off the back off marathon week

Track 3000ms 10.45mins  hmmm I ran this to get points for my club so I just did tactical and ran on 1st lady shoulder and sprinted at the end !

As a youngster

County Champion for Xcountry and

High Jump

and 1500ms track.

pbs aged 13 yrs old

800ms 2mins 16secs

1500ms 4mins 48 secs

high jump 1metre 53  (cant do this now) and I never trained for it as a kid, just competed alot for points for my club, usually spend 2 hours highjumping, and skip off to do an 800 or 1500ms race then go back to high jump, Wish I took the running more seriously!

Run on more than several occasions for my County against Ireland county of Dublin.

Top 50 finnisher at 14yrs of age in english nationals Xcountry.

Morning.

Gym

xtrainer 20 mins level 6

3.5 mile run, hip feeling slightly better the ice baths yesterday worked.

5 mins step ups weak leg leading all the time

5 mins step ups hard fast both legs alternating.

Barry I did 20 mins in the ice bath Echouwowa and a hot bath 1 hour later, stretched allot.

 xtrainer 5 mins.

AFTERNOON.

I am going to see how I feel but the plan is a tempo run so 2-3 easy miles, then a tempo run of 4 miles @ approx 6.30 pace then 2 miles warm down.

Ended up doing 5 miles easy to get to were I wanted to run my tempo with out being in the sun too much reall hot today  nearly 29 degrees as its the middle of the day!

took water with me although I drank that by the time I got to the start of the tempo run.

I was going to do 4 miles at 6.30 pace, but I cut it short and did 3 miles but had to do the same mileage to get back!

1st mile 6.30 dead on pace :-)

2nd mile 6.24 a little fast

3rd mile 6.48 a little slow and died at the end, had to stop here and easy run back last mile 8 mins.

xtrainer for 10 mins on easy level 3 I was really tired.

I usually do an easy few miles in the evening on Tuesday's as my son is goalkeeper training, wasnt sure how I would feel, but as its session day I went and did 4.5 miles at a decent pace, first 2 miles were in a hilly woods, then out on to a flat road, last 2 miles 6.45 pace (marathon pace)...

(not sure I am going to do this got to see how my hip and hammy feel).

Sam - make sure your pain free when doing the tempo. You don't want to further injury it. One thing I've notice about injuries is it will quit hurting while your running faster. But then it kills after your done. Make sure your bodies ready.

Nice workout this morning. I introduced the ice baths to Barry. Now he does more than I do. I haven't done one forever.

20 mins ice ebath is awesome, don't think I could manage that long! Good training - keep it up :)

Great job. Very wise ending the tempo at 3 miles.

If you don't have it that day it's better to end that type of run, because fighting through the heat or injury during a training run won't benefit that training for the day. It gives you no success or nothing to build on that training day.

Now you'll be fresher tomorrow because you didn't try to exhaust yourself through the tempo. Great work and again wise. (Things I need to practice what I preach).

Thanks Kory for the advice it's appreciated my coach wasn't too impressed he said I should have started tempo slower as the heat effects you so much but was glad I cut it short too. I'm the same as you great at letting other people know but pig headed when it co

es to my own training :-)

chris gonna do 2 ice baths today as I'm off work on an easy day so two easy runs 2 ice baths and going for a nap too :-)
