Triathlons are my New sport and I LOVE IT

Recent last few years  as I havent done much since I was 16/17yrs, on and off injuries, going out with Friends started. Operations on injuries- compartment syndrome front of the shin had small operation to release the pressure on the fascia.

Oct 2007.  Did the great north run.  ( I was in the elite ladies race, against Kara Goucher and Paula Radcliffe, Im sure u Americans will recall that race).

I was just in on my previous times from the Bath Half Marathon. I ran it as best as I could off my training & circumstances...

Decided to do my 1st Marathon with London looming in the following April I was in the ladies Elite race again.  So the training was on.  I realise now I didnt give my body enough time to recover as it did break down in the last 5 weeks of my training. Injury bound, with calf and hamstring problems I raced!

London Marathon, April 08 (Injury calf issues) 1st marathon  3hrs.12mins .30 secs

Dublin Marathon  Oct 08  3hrs.01mins.13  undulating and 1 toilet stuck/stop (LOL)

Bath Half 2007    1.26.35 hrs

Wilmslow half marathon english champs    1.25.39

18th lady  (With piriformis injury ).

Liverpool 10k 2008 Oct 37.42mins midst marathon training

Wirral 5k 2009 17.41mins off the back off marathon week

Track 3000ms 10.45mins  hmmm I ran this to get points for my club so I just did tactical and ran on 1st lady shoulder and sprinted at the end !

As a youngster

County Champion for Xcountry and

High Jump

and 1500ms track.

pbs aged 13 yrs old

800ms 2mins 16secs

1500ms 4mins 48 secs

high jump 1metre 53  (cant do this now) and I never trained for it as a kid, just competed alot for points for my club, usually spend 2 hours highjumping, and skip off to do an 800 or 1500ms race then go back to high jump, Wish I took the running more seriously!

Run on more than several occasions for my County against Ireland county of Dublin.

Top 50 finnisher at 14yrs of age in english nationals Xcountry.

Recovery Rest day urghh not even allowed to cross train urghhhhh!   and no motorbike urghhhhh!

but I am allowed to swim what joy !

Okay I have a physio saying rest more

and a coach saying well yeah but if you want to do the marathon you need to back in training soooooon.

So Coach said, no run today, but easy run tomorrow of 6 miles, then two runs double up on Thursday of 2x 5 miles Friday easy short 6 miles, sat rest

Sunday is test day, mile reps. If I cant do mile reps Sunday the half marathon is off and maybe the marathon I cant stand this anymore, so sick of training getting really fit and it all goes down the drain before I can even race !

It doesnt feel like an injury as such I just dont get it, My hips are pretty sore today though so lots of stretching and Im gonna brave 2 ice baths today see if that helps more...

here are my babies again

 Paul and Dylan

Paul the kitten and the chicken coop ha ha  look at the perfect grass, and yes its real Zeon the other cat Bengal they love playing with water

Then here is me on a horse I love horses, but too much money too much time needed for them.... but I like horse riding and tend to go when Im on holiday anyway another sport bad for my hips :(   (naughty girl were is that hat) and if I remember this horse was lazy omg it was hard work Id rather be on a horse thats has more ooomph

Cool pics!

I didn't know you could ride a horse, I remember my college lecturer (who owned a horse for his daughter)always moaning when it rained as the horse would not go outside and eat the grass so he had to buy hay which cost him money! LOL

It's annoying how you keep picking up these niggles close to the race, although you still have a while left to go until race day

Sorry to hear that your are still fighting these "injuries" per se. Training hard can be hard on the body and we need to find the right level for each of us. It doesn't help when you get conflicting advice and have the runner's adrenaline rush to keep getting out there. I pray that you can get by these "niggles" and be ready for London.

Chris I started riding horses at the age of 4 I gave up riding every week at about 16 that was when I had to start paying for the lessons etc ha ha..... I did have my own horse for about a year, but I didnt like the cold weather although Id run in it LOL.

Jeff I am confident it isnt as bad as the physio is making out, I think she thinks I am hammering my body when Im not really in running terms Im not doing enough and I have done allot more in the past for marathons allot allot more...it is a niggle I am sure :)

You could consider deep water pool running. I've been doing it a few weeks to try to get over my tendinitis.

Great photos.

Paul I did swimming yesterday, only 20mins not allowed to do more, I have done deep water running before but I was told not to, and to try running today but thanks and yes it helps.
