Triathlons are my New sport and I LOVE IT

Recent last few years  as I havent done much since I was 16/17yrs, on and off injuries, going out with Friends started. Operations on injuries- compartment syndrome front of the shin had small operation to release the pressure on the fascia.

Oct 2007.  Did the great north run.  ( I was in the elite ladies race, against Kara Goucher and Paula Radcliffe, Im sure u Americans will recall that race).

I was just in on my previous times from the Bath Half Marathon. I ran it as best as I could off my training & circumstances...

Decided to do my 1st Marathon with London looming in the following April I was in the ladies Elite race again.  So the training was on.  I realise now I didnt give my body enough time to recover as it did break down in the last 5 weeks of my training. Injury bound, with calf and hamstring problems I raced!

London Marathon, April 08 (Injury calf issues) 1st marathon  3hrs.12mins .30 secs

Dublin Marathon  Oct 08  3hrs.01mins.13  undulating and 1 toilet stuck/stop (LOL)

Bath Half 2007    1.26.35 hrs

Wilmslow half marathon english champs    1.25.39

18th lady  (With piriformis injury ).

Liverpool 10k 2008 Oct 37.42mins midst marathon training

Wirral 5k 2009 17.41mins off the back off marathon week

Track 3000ms 10.45mins  hmmm I ran this to get points for my club so I just did tactical and ran on 1st lady shoulder and sprinted at the end !

As a youngster

County Champion for Xcountry and

High Jump

and 1500ms track.

pbs aged 13 yrs old

800ms 2mins 16secs

1500ms 4mins 48 secs

high jump 1metre 53  (cant do this now) and I never trained for it as a kid, just competed alot for points for my club, usually spend 2 hours highjumping, and skip off to do an 800 or 1500ms race then go back to high jump, Wish I took the running more seriously!

Run on more than several occasions for my County against Ireland county of Dublin.

Top 50 finnisher at 14yrs of age in english nationals Xcountry.

I had the start of a sore throat yesterday, although it was allot worse this morning, I couldnt decide whether to run or not, so took lots of pain killers, and anti-inflams, Lemsip max and the such prob drugged up the eye balls, ate something and wait and see.

The race wasnt until the afternoon, I went with my Husband Paul to look at a job as he wasnt got allot of work in at the moment .

 .

I felt ok, but a bit of a fluffy head eh! with all the drugs LOL.

I decided to run, so we set off, and the further we got into the journey the worse the weather seemed, allot of snow and -3C. The traffic was awful, so a long journey in the end.   I arrived with 20 mins to the start, ouch!  I warmed up. 1.5 miles.  I ran with long sleeves and gloves.

Not much warning at the start of the race, just off you go, and a whistle Bizaar, took me by surprise, I set off ok pace, didnt hammer it as I knew it wouldnt be a good idea feeling under the weather.

Did about as good as my last xcountry, so I was a bit annoyed but thats life, you have to take the good with the bad eh!

I had better expectations due to my training recently and felt I had let Paul and Dylan down in a way as he puts up and helps allot with all my training, takes me to races supports me and now even looks after me when I am feeling really ill sat on the sofa urghhh :-(

Hope the sore throat and cold shifts soon!

I think you did well to get out and do the race considering. Good job you didn't win today or they might be suspicious of excessive Lemsip consumption! LOL

Best thing is to get better and focus on your next race (the 10K?). Stupid colds!

From jtshad on Sat, Dec 19, 2009 at 16:22:37 from 69.20.183.178

Hope the cold clears up. Good job getting out and even racing...you can't always have an A day, so this is just one to put in the books and look forward to the next one.

Have a great weekend.

From Bonnie on Sat, Dec 19, 2009 at 16:40:50 from 150.135.115.156

arrghh. Hated dreadful colds! Take it easy - you ran hard with a bad cold, you really need to take care of yourself. Today was a great training day and I am sure you will get a great race in after you are better.

I am sure that neither of your men see it as letting them down. A happy Mommy is a happy home ;).

From seeaprilrun on Sat, Dec 19, 2009 at 17:08:33 from 68.103.250.39

Great job despite the cold and the medicine head. I can't run 4 miles that fast on my best day. I betcha your next race when you are not sick you will reap the benefits of your training(those killer lungbursting mile repeats).

From vinh on Sat, Dec 19, 2009 at 18:53:01 from 71.68.254.197

Nice job Sam! You did well for not being 100%. Hopefully you recover soon!

From Lyman on Sat, Dec 19, 2009 at 20:46:54 from 75.169.188.83

Great job! I've got to admire your focus and effort. Sick, terrible weather, and you still put in an awesome time! Hope start feeling better.

From Adam RW on Sat, Dec 19, 2009 at 21:58:55 from 24.10.132.131

Considering you had a sore throat I would say 6th place is not too shabby...

From Mark on Sat, Dec 19, 2009 at 22:46:39 from 173.168.88.68

Not bad at all, having a cold really makes you appreciate when you don't have one (that's about all I can do for coming up with a bright side). Great job getting out there and doing it!

From Burt on Sun, Dec 20, 2009 at 01:57:28 from 98.177.216.165

Great job. Your pace is still faster than I can run one mile.

From RICKS RUNNING on Sun, Dec 20, 2009 at 09:45:12 from 79.70.162.201

6th place in only your 2nd X/c of the season is pretty dam good, hang in there with a positive outlook and in a couple more races you should be up there challenging for the top 3.

From Jon on Sun, Dec 20, 2009 at 10:03:31 from 198.60.103.104

Hey, nice job despite not feeling great. You'll be that much better at your next race!

From Samantha Dean-Howard on Sun, Dec 20, 2009 at 13:49:25 from 90.201.147.113

Chris LOL at the lemsip consumption ha ha, yeah the 10k Im not sure im gonna do that one lets see how long this head cold last for huh!

Jeff- thanks I have a clearer perspective on it now, I can be hard on myself. thankyou.

Bonnie- No they dont see it like I said, but I do, as I feel so selfish at times, but theyre really good to me, so supportive nowadays, and due to that I feel I need to make more of an effort, but yesterday nothing clicked realy, I didnt get race nerves or adrenaline, so not like me, Im such a nerve BOMB LOL thanks though :)

Vinh- Lyman-Adam, Mark and Burt, thankyou your support has cheered me up allot, I still feel ill but at least I am smiling thanks :-)

Rick Nice to see you yesterday, why didnt you run?? Niz did great. As I said I am hard on myself, I have to accept I am still not race fit, but I am getting there slowly, It seems like a long slog this time round, but I have come back so much slower on purpose from the hammy injury. I start proper training soon for the marathon, I am just trying to get used to training, and being fit enough to embark on the marathon training and doing races again without being a huge nervous wreck LOL yes this is why I didnt race much, I got race shy :-)

Jon thanks, not long and I have another race, but as my coach says I am not really tapering properley for these races, Im using them as training for mental purposes and strength fitness.

Thanks Guys and Girls :-)

I swear Winter racing is so hard on us! Its impossible to get good times in -3 weather also. You did great and get better asap. I dont think you let anyone down! You came and blasted it out and itll make you a better runner.

From Barry on Sun, Dec 20, 2009 at 21:48:45 from 24.119.13.115

Sorry about the cold. I think you did awesome at the race because you had a lot of things going against you. Now get some rest....

From Kory on Mon, Dec 21, 2009 at 14:05:42 from 134.50.89.55

We take what are body gives us on certain days and that's all you can do. When your sick the body has limits and you did the right thing by not hammering the run.

Look at it this way you did the race got a good tempo run in so no training wasn't lost. Chalk it up as a training run rather than a race.

Families never let each other down even though I've felt the same way at times.
